Citigroup Deploys AI Tools to Streamline Document Searches and Internal Processes

Published:

Citigroup has introduced two artificial intelligence tools, Citi Assist and Citi Stylus, to approximately 140,000 employees across eight countries, including the United States, United Kingdom, and India. These tools aim to streamline internal processes and enhance productivity.

Citi Assist functions as an internal search engine, enabling employees to efficiently navigate bank policies and procedures across various departments such as human resources and compliance. Citi Stylus allows users to summarise, compare, and search multiple documents simultaneously, facilitating more effective document management.

The deployment of these AI tools is part of Citigroup’s broader strategy to modernise its technology infrastructure and improve operational efficiency. In October 2024, Citi announced a strategic agreement with Google Cloud to support its digital transformation through cloud technology and AI, aiming to enhance both employee and client experiences.

Other major financial institutions, such as Morgan Stanley and Bank of America, have also integrated AI tools into specific roles, reflecting a growing trend in the banking industry to leverage AI for improved efficiency and client service.

Citigroup plans to monitor employee interactions with these tools to develop new applications and encourages staff to propose additional uses, indicating a commitment to continuous innovation in leveraging AI technologies.
